Read Luke 2:1-4
When I was in High School, I was able to barely study rush through my homework at the last minute, and rarely ever pay attention in class, and I still got great grades. Up until that point, school had came pretty easily to me, and I didn’t have to put in much effort to get by. My first semester in college, though, was a different story. After failing my first biology exam, I realized that I was only going to get out of school what I put into it. I couldn’t rush through and barely pay attention like High School and expect to do well. I had to put in effort to see results.
I have found this same principle to be true when it comes to my spiritual life as well. I get out of my relationship with God what I am willing to put into it. But, it doesn’t matter what I have to offer, whether it is a little or alot, it matters how much I am willing to sacrifice. The widow didn’t have nearly as much as the rich man to offer God, but she sacrificed so much more because she was willing to give all she had. Many times, we get caught up in thinking that we have to do all these great things for God or offer Him so much when, in reality, God just wants us to give Him all that we have and trust Him to provide us with all that we need. What are you putting into your spiritual life? Are you just getting by, or are you sacrificing all that you have and all that you are for Him? Trust Him that He will provide for your needs and do far more in your life than you could ever imagine.]]>
