In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father. (Matthew 5:16)

When our kids were in elementary school, we took them to a cave to explore one day in the summer.  We had a guide who had us walk through water almost over my daughter’s head.  It was kinda creepy (especially when my only fear in life is mice and bats which aka are flying mice).  The whole tour had lights so you could see around you.  However, we got to this one place where the guide turned off the lights.  Then after a few seconds of pitch black, he turned on his tiny $1 flashlight.  It was amazing that such a small cheap flashlight could literally light up the whole cave.  That’s the beauty of light…it spreads!

A single act of kindness can also spread. Remember the last time someone paid for your coffee in line? Such a simple act, yet it likely changed your mood and maybe even inspired you to pay it forward. This is the ripple effect of kindness—an endless potential to brighten days and change lives, starting with just one small act.  When we let our light shine through acts of kindness, we’re not just brightening someone’s day; we’re embodying the teachings of Jesus. These actions reflect the love and grace we’ve received and encourage others to pass it on. By living out this verse, we become beacons of hope and light in a world that often feels dark and divided.

Don’t forget this week’s Chasing Epic Challenge for one random act of kindness for someone you don’t know.

Prayer for the Day

God what are you  showing me?  What am I going to do about it?

God help me to see one person that I can serve through a kind word, random act of kindness, or simple gift today?
