Enjoy the Ride
Read The Daily:
“Better to have little, with fear for the Lord, than to have great treasure and inner turmoil.” – Proverbs 15:16
I meet with some guys early every Tuesday morning at McDonalds in Wheelersburg. We took a little break for two months in the summer, but I’m ashamed to say how many times Tuesday morning that I would almost turn left on 52 to head to Wheelersburg instead of C3. Some of it is habit, but I would also be listening to a message on a podcast and really focused on what they were saying.
Ever get so locked in on where you’re headed that you miss where you are (maybe I’m the only weirdo)? Goals are good, ambition matters—but living only for the next win means you’ll never enjoy the ride.
Naaman almost missed his miracle because he was obsessed with how things “should” go. He had a script for success: powerful entrance, impressive exchange, grand healing. But God’s plan was simpler and better. The small step of dipping in the Jordan led to the freedom he couldn’t buy.
We do the same. We write scripts about career, relationships, and life milestones. And when they don’t play out? We spiral. But maybe the point isn’t controlling the script—it’s trusting the Director.
So pause today. What’s one good thing you have right now that you’re rushing past? A friendship, a moment, a chance to laugh? Don’t miss it while you’re chasing the next scene. Grace frees you to enjoy the ride.
Prayer for the Day
God what are you showing me? What am I going to do about it?
God help me to see one person that I can serve through a kind word, random act of kindness, or simple gift today?

Read The New Testament In A Year
The Lord now chose seventy-two other disciples and sent them ahead in pairs to all the towns and places he planned to visit. These were his instructions to them: “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields. Now go, and remember that I am sending you out as lambs among wolves. Don’t take any money with you, nor a traveler’s bag, nor an extra pair of sandals. And don’t stop to greet anyone on the road. “Whenever you enter someone’s home, first say, ‘May God’s peace be on this house.’ If those who live there are peaceful, the blessing will stand; if they are not, the blessing will return to you. Don’t move around from home to home. Stay in one place, eating and drinking what they provide. Don’t hesitate to accept hospitality, because those who work deserve their pay. “If you enter a town and it welcomes you, eat whatever is set before you. Heal the sick, and tell them, ‘The Kingdom of God is near you now.’ But if a town refuses to welcome you, go out into its streets and say, ‘We wipe even the dust of your town from our feet to show that we have abandoned you to your fate. And know this—the Kingdom of God is near!’ I assure you, even wicked Sodom will be better off than such a town on judgment day. Luke 10:1-12
Finally, all of you should be of one mind. Sympathize with each other. Love each other as brothers and sisters. Be tenderhearted, and keep a humble attitude. Don’t repay evil for evil. Don’t retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God has called you to do, and he will grant you his blessing. For the Scriptures say, “If you want to enjoy life and see many happy days, keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies. Turn away from evil and do good. Search for peace, and work to maintain it. The eyes of the LORD watch over those who do right, and his ears are open to their prayers. But the LORD turns his face against those who do evil.” Now, who will want to harm you if you are eager to do good? But even if you suffer for doing what is right, God will reward you for it. So don’t worry or be afraid of their threats. Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it. But do this in a gentle and respectful way. Keep your conscience clear. Then if people speak against you, they will be ashamed when they see what a good life you live because you belong to Christ. Remember, it is better to suffer for doing good, if that is what God wants, than to suffer for doing wrong. 1 Peter 3:8-17
