Take a Moment

Ask God what He wants to show you before reading today

For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them (Matthew 18:20)

I still remember answering the call.  It was about 10 years ago and a C3er was asking if I’d come to the hospital because they were about to lose their son.  I was honestly so scared.  What do you say?  How do you bring any comfort in an unimaginable situation that none of us ever want to even think about?  I arrived and awkwardly said a few things and prayed.  I don’t know why, maybe it was God, but I chose to just sit there for another few hours, sometimes not saying more than a word or two per hour.  I left close to midnight that night and felt like the ultimate failure.  I should have had more to say.  I should have been more comforting.  She called me around 5 am to let me know that he had passed and said something I’ll never forget. “You have no clue how much you helped me last night”

Connection is more than just being physically present. In an age where digital interaction often replaces face-to-face meetings, the power of truly being there for someone cannot be overstated. Whether it’s sitting with a friend in silence during a difficult time or celebrating a joyous occasion, your presence can be the most powerful expression of love and support.  Jesus promises that when we come together in His name, He is with us. This verse isn’t just about physical gatherings but the quality of our connections. When we intentionally show up for one another, we create sacred spaces where healing, support, and genuine community can flourish. Let’s prioritize being fully present in our interactions, offering our attention and care as we follow Jesus..

Don’t forget this week’s Chasing Epic Challenge for one random act of kindness for someone you don’t know.

Prayer for the Day

God what are you  showing me?  What am I going to do about it?

God help me to see one person that I can serve through a kind word, random act of kindness, or simple gift today?
