Always In A Hurry? – Monday

Week 4 | IN – Being Loved More

Listen instead of reading

Take a Moment

Ask God what He wants to show you before reading today

Read The Daily

Before daybreak the next morning, Jesus got up and went out to an isolated place to pray. (Mark 1:35)

We see that continually Jesus withdrew from people, daily life activities, and the demands of his job  to be alone with the Father and pray. Jesus’ solitude and silence is a major theme in the Gospels. His ongoing, intimate relationship with His Father was the source of his compassion, wisdom, and power that we see on every page of the Gospels.  The priority of Jesus’ solitude and silence is everywhere in the Gospels. It’s how he began his ministry. It’s how he made important decisions. It’s how he dealt with troubling emotions like grief. It’s how he dealt with the constant demands of his ministry and cared for his soul. It’s how he taught his disciples. It’s how he prepared for important ministry events. It’s how he prepared for his death on the cross.

At C3, we talk about the BLESS habits of Jesus, which are Bible/prayer, Listen, Eat, Serve & Spread good news.  It’s not a checklist to feel guilty about or even something you’ve GOT to do.  It’s simply the way we GET to live and find actual peace, calm and purpose in life.  Jesus invites us to join him in his solitude so we can know and be reminded of God as Father too (the Bible uses Abba which translates closer to Dad…some say daddy) and share his love with others.

Don’t  miss the significance of Jesus’ solitude and silence with the Father.  How could we think that we can live well or love well without following Jesus’ example? Mark doesn’t miss it!  Many Bible scholars say that Mark told his gospel in a hurry. Indeed his favorite expression is “immediately” (or “at once”) which he uses 39 times.. But even telling it quickly, Mark repeatedly pauses to give us glimpses into Jesus’ solitude and silence with the Father.. .

Don’t forget this week’s Chasing Epic Challenge is to slow down and take 5 minutes or more to pray.  The Epic Life app can guide you.

Prayer for the Day

God what are you  showing me?  What am I going to do about it?

God help me to see one person that I can serve through a kind word, random act of kindness, or simple gift today?
