O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me. (Psalm 139:1)
Our staff at C3 tries to create a few themes each year to guide our focus. One of the big 3 last year was “We can always work with honesty”. We may not like it or want to deal with it, but we can at least work with it.
Fun Fact: I’m a terrible counselor but because of my line of work, I have to do it more than I’d like. One thing that I’ve noticed is that most people (including myself) aren’t really honest with ourselves and others. As long as we hide or deny, we’ll never really get to the real issue. Our relationship with God thrives on honesty too. Just as we benefit from unfiltered conversations with friends, God invites us to come as we are, doubts, questions, and all. It’s in these authentic exchanges that we experience His grace most profoundly. Today, challenge yourself to have an unfiltered conversation with God. Share your heart, knowing He listens and loves you unconditionally. This openness paves the way for a deeper connection with Him, rooted in trust and transparency.
Embracing this in practice means initiating dialogue with God that isn’t polished but real. Start by expressing your feelings, whether it’s frustration, joy, or confusion. Use everyday language, as if you’re talking to someone sitting across from you. Then, listen. Spend time in silence, allowing God to speak into your situation. This approach to prayer builds a deeper connection, rooted in sincerity and bolstered by the understanding that His love for us is vast and unchanging.
Don’t forget this week’s Chasing Epic Challenge is to slow down and take 5 minutes or more to pray. The Epic Life app can guide you.
Prayer for the Day
God what are you showing me? What am I going to do about it?
God help me to see one person that I can serve through a kind word, random act of kindness, or simple gift today?
