Read The Daily

During that time the devil came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God?” (Matthew 4:3)

Think about this.  Jesus is baptized and the first thing He hears from God the Father after being baptized is “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.” Shortly after, it says the Holy Spirit led Him into the wilderness, and the devil came to tempt Him saying, “If you are the Son of God?”

Did you just notice what strategically got left out? 

Just moments before, God the Father had just affirmed Jesus as His dearly loved Son, who brings Him great joy at the Jordan River. However, when the devil came to tempt Jesus, he removed the word “dearly loved” and simply said, “If You are the Son of God . .”

Sadly, we are still believing this same lie a few thousand years later. 

“I mean, I hope God loves me?”  

Take the following verse today and fill in your name.  “This is my dearly loved son (or daughter) Trent, who brings me great joy” – God.

Prayer for the Day

God what are you  showing me?  What am I going to do about it? 

God help me to see one person that I can serve through a kind word, random act of kindness, or simple gift today?
