What You’re Known For – Monday
Week 3 | Been There
Listen instead of reading
Take a Moment
Ask God what He wants to show you before reading today
Read The Daily
”So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other.“ (John 13:34)
We were driving a few weeks back and my daughter brought up something about my grandmother aka “Nanny”. She passed away before either one of my kids were born, so they’ve only heard stories. My daughter says, “I didn’t know her, but she must have been a Saint because everyone talks about how great she was”. My wife said, “she really was…she was always so kind to everyone”. Other than thinking about some pretty great memories of her during the conversation, it hit me that we are all known for something. So you might ask what does any of that have to do with being offended?
What do you want to be known for? Do you want to be known as the one who was always “upset” or “arguing your point” or “trying to be right”?. Or the one that was always “loving & kind”? We need to remember that Jesus didn’t call us to be right—He called us to love. That doesn’t mean we ignore God’s truth or avoid forming opinions. But it does mean that we choose to be known for our love, not for our stances. That’s one good way to live without drinking the antifreeze.
Prayer for the Day
God what are you showing me? What am I going to do about it?
God help me to see one person that I can serve through a kind word, random act of kindness, or simple gift today?
