“He will not forget how hard you have worked for him.” (Hebrews 6:10)
My wife is a million times better person than me…obvious right? However, one thing I can claim over her is that I’m not as hot headed. I always like to joke that I just refuse to waste any energy on getting worked up (aka I’m lazier lol). However, a few things can really get me fuming. One of my biggest problems is when people are inconsiderate in traffic. Here’s the scenario, you are waiting in a long line of traffic and another car is trying to get in. Do I want to let them in? Of course not, but I usually do. You know what I’d like in return? A simple head nod or the smallest wave that simply says, “Hey you’re the man and I’ll probably name my next child after the guy in the Red 2004 Chevy Envoy!” But sometimes they just go in front of me and don’t even acknowledge my incredible generosity. It may be silly, but I do think that most of the time. Talk about traffic and only requiring one thing. A nod or wave.
“Thank You”
Many of us have thought, “I do so much for others; now I just want a little appreciation in return”? But there doesn’t seem to be any coming, so you feel unappreciated and taken for granted. Just two simple words, but oh how much they mean: “Thank you!” Has it been a long time since you heard them? If so, understand this: others may fail to thank you, but the God of the Universe appreciates all that you do and all that you are. Your work may go uncelebrated, but it will not go unrewarded. God has put you exactly where He needs you. You are fulfilling His purpose every day. Once you accept that, you’ll find joy and meaning in what you’re doing. God is the reason—others are just the beneficiaries! Don’t let someone else’s response decide your level of joy. They may not notice, but God does. He observes every day and every detail of your life. “God is not unjust. He will not forget how hard you have worked for him and how you have shown your love to him by caring for other believers, as you still do.” Paul writes, “And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.” (Col 3:17). That’s it—do it for Him!
Prayer for the Day
God what are you showing me? What am I going to do about it?
God help me to see one person that I can serve through a kind word, random act of kindness, or simple gift today?
