My Daughter Has Fire – Tuesday

Week 2 | Listen To Me!

Listen instead of reading

There are “friends” who destroy each other, but a real friend sticks closer than a brother. (Proverbs 18:24)

My daughter Teegan is sadly wired in many ways like my older brother (and myself).  She loves to laugh but also thinks it’s fun (and funny)  to make fun of each other.  It’s especially fun for her to do with friends and family.  My wife, however,  is not a fan of that trait in either of us.   Even though Teegan enjoys a good bashing of friends and family, she has another trait that all of her friends love.  Like my older brother, she’s loyal to a fault. If she likes you, she’ll do anything for you.  If she’s your friend, you know it.

Have you ever had the kind of friend you’re not sure is actually your friend? Someone who maybe acts like they’re your friend, but then says or does something not so friendly behind your back? Those people feel like fake friends, don’t they? And they definitely make us appreciate our real friends all the more!  One of the best ways to find real friends is to start being a real friend to others. Because you know who trustworthy people like to hang out with? Other trustworthy people. You know who loyal people like to hang out with? Other loyal people.

So how about you?  Do you have a group outside of your family that you would call real friends?  Maybe a better question is “Who are you being a loyal and real friend to?”

Prayer for the Day

God what are you  showing me?  What am I going to do about it?

God help me to see one person that I can serve through a kind word, random act of kindness, or simple gift today?
