You Have A Friend In Me – Friday

Week 4 | Be-Friended

Listen instead of reading

Take a Moment

Ask God what He wants to show you before reading today

Read The Daily

Now you are my friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me. You didn’t choose me. I chose you. (John 15:15-16)

If you are wondering why you aren’t a better friend, it always boils down to heart issues. The principles we’ve learned are really important, but there’s something deeper we must address:

What is it that keeps you from being vulnerable? The lie that I need to look good (pride).
What is it that keeps you from being thoughtful? The lie that life is all about me (selfishness).
What is it that makes you unreliable? The lie that I’m not important (apathy)

You can work and work at being a great friend, but you’ll always fail until you let God heal, mend and change your heart. Only God can change our hearts. If you were to write down some characteristics of the perfect friend…Guess what? You probably just described God. He’s the perfect friend.

Read the daily again.  Wow! Jesus is our friend.  Even better, friends of Jesus make the best friends of people, because Jesus changes their heart, and we all need a changed heart. Your hope for lasting, deep, world-changing friendships rests in your friendship with Jesus.

Prayer for the Day

God what are you  showing me?  What am I going to do about it?

God help me to see one person that I can serve through a kind word, random act of kindness, or simple gift today?
