Calm The Storm Around You or In You? | Tuesday
Week 2 | Don’t Worry, Be Happy

I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)
God can give us rest in the midst of the storm. In the storms of our life, we can feel an incredible weight on our shoulders. Fear is spinning, creating anxiety in our hearts, as our thoughts run wild and we are unable to stop them in the dead of the night. Jesus shows us another way to approach the storm. The disciples find him sleeping during the furious squall that’s about to take the boat over. And yet, Jesus is asleep in the midst of the storm. He is barely bothered by the storm because He knows that He is greater than the storm. We can have that same rest in the midst of storms in our lives when we recognize that all our worries are diminished before our Lord Almighty. If Jesus could sleep in the middle of the storm, then we can also sleep too. How? “Fear Not” doesn’t mean you’ll get to the other side of where you’re going with no problems, it means Jesus promises to be with you in the middle of all your problems
We don’t have to just anticipate the end of the storm, but we can have peace in the middle of the storm. God is building, God is guarding, God is blessing and providing—all outside our efforts. So don’t kill yourself as if it’s all on you. Trust that He will bring to pass what’s aligned with His will (that He calls good and perfect). Go to Jesus and He will give you rest. He tells us to go to Him and learn from Him and we will find rest for our souls.
Remember, Jesus doesn’t promise a peace-free life, but He does promise a peace-full soul and that’s what we all really want anyways.
Prayer for the Day
God what are you showing me? What am I going to do about it?
God help me to see one person that I can serve through a kind word, random act of kindness, or simple gift today?
