Week 1 | The Purpose Path

Take a Moment

Ask God what He wants to show you before reading today

But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love. (1 John 4:8)

This week, we want to walk you through some next steps we all need to either take or continue growing in to find your purpose.  The first one is what everything else hinges on…Know God. The ancient Greeks had a phrase, “the gods play while the people pay”.   Since I didn’t grow up being part of a local church, I would often wonder what God was like.  The only example I had was from a cartoon which depicted Him similar to an old man with a long beard.  It seemed like a nice old man that wasn’t too involved.  How about you?  How do you picture God?  Loving, angry, or somewhere in between depending on what happened that day?

In today’s day, God is probably the most misunderstood figure out there. We paint Him out to be mystical and unapproachable; that His heart and motives will never fully be grasped. Even insurance companies deem natural disasters as “an act of God”. Through this, we find ourselves standing back and analyzing the details of our lives as we allow circumstances and emotions to dictate what we believe about God instead of allowing the Bible or what Jesus said about His Father to set the precedent.

Jesus once decided to explain God not only as a Father but as a loving Father with a story about a son who walks away and basically writes his Father off (other than asking for his inheritance before he left).  What if we viewed God more like that same loving Father that ultimately wants you to know His incredible love for you?  God wants to know everyone personally. It’s not about religion. It’s about a relationship based on His perfect love.

Prayer for the Day

God what are you  showing me?  What am I going to do about it?

God help me to see one person that I can serve through a kind word, random act of kindness, or simple gift today?
