“But even before I was born, God chose me and called me by his marvelous grace. Then it pleased him to reveal his Son to me so that I would proclaim the Good News about Jesus to the Gentiles.”(Galatians 1:14-16)
Devotional by Alisha Miller
When I started this Jesus Journey 20 years ago I found myself confused often. I remember thinking “how can God use me? I mean I didn’t grow up in church, and I have no idea what I’m doing. Plus, I’ve made some pretty stupid decisions.” I would find myself looking at other Christians, and feeling discouraged. It got to a point where I was ready to throw my hands up, because this wasn’t for me. I just wasn’t good enough.
However I kept reading my Bible, and I stumbled on this guy named Saul. I was fascinated by him. Then Saul became Paul, and it all clicked for me. This guy made a real mess of things. He didn’t grow up as a Christian, he did some really bad stuff, and he had one encounter with Jesus that turned his life around. I found hope in Paul’s story. God turned his mess into his message, and maybe He could use me after all! Reading Paul’s story changed my way of thinking, and ultimately my relationship with Jesus. Hearing that story paved the road for me, and here I am today getting to share my own story with anyone that will listen. So find hope in your mess and watch God turn it into your message.
Prayer for the Day
God what are you showing me? What am I going to do about it?
God help me to see one person that I can serve through a kind word, random act of kindness, or simple gift today?
