In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father. (Matthew 5:16)

Post by Alisha Miller

A few years ago a couple C3ers were sitting around a table talking about how the poverty and sadness in our area has left a blanket of darkness over the Tri-State. As the conversation continued, it was like a tiny spark began to ignite, and shortly after,  For The Tri-State was born.  We thought, what if we could just turn that spark into a steady flicker of light? What if that steady flicker becomes a constant flame that spreads like wildfire, and we light up the Tri-State? So we put a plan into action that became our mission, The Decade of Dots. We have a dream  over the next 10 years to have a presence and be a light in the darkest areas. One by one, tiny lights will begin to emerge throughout our area, and the Tri-State will no longer be stricken by sadness and despair, but filled with love and hope. So how can this happen? For The Tri State is on mission to be a light by creating connections and relationships, doing small acts of kindness, and having community involvement that will illuminate our area. Each “dot” will represent an effort, a moment of  care that shines in areas most neglected, and a beacon of hope to those that need it most.

Have you ever prayed anything along these lines: “Father, let my light shine before people in such a way that they may see my good works and glorify you”? I don’t hear prayers like that very often. Our prayers hover close to our personal visions and dreams. We are not called to stay comfortable in the light but to step out into the darkness where our light can have the greatest impact. Consider how you can be a light in your community? What gifts and resources do you have that can help those in need? Whether it’s volunteering your time, sharing your skills, or simply offering a listening ear, every single act of kindness adds to the collective light.

Together, we can light up the Tri State, bringing warmth and hope to those struggling in the shadows.

Prayer for the Day

God what are you  showing me?  What am I going to do about it?

God help me to see one person that I can serve through a kind word, random act of kindness, or simple gift today?
