“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” (Galatians 6:2)

Post by Aaron Fields

One thing that I will never do is hold hands with another man. You only hold hands with your Momma or your lady! Am I right?! But one thing that has always stood out to me in all the sports that I ever played was when our whole team would huddle up and lock arms. We always called it “locking up”. It was a way to show that we were there for each other and had each other’s backs without getting too touchy feely, if that makes sense. For any team, knowing that you care for each other and watch out for each other only makes you better. It was in those moments that we all felt like we were on the same page, and even made us a better team.

This verse is a powerful reminder that we were never meant to walk through life alone. Like all of the sports teams I played on, we were stronger together. Jesus calls us to bear each other’s burdens—not as a duty, but as a fulfillment of His law of love. This is the gospel in action: Jesus carried our ultimate burden, the weight of sin, so we could live free. In the same way, we reflect His love when we carry one another’s daily burdens, offering strength, encouragement, and hope. Carrying burdens doesn’t mean fixing people’s problems; it means walking alongside them, showing that they’re not alone. When we share the weight of someone’s struggles, we become living pictures of Christ’s love. And in doing so, we build a community rooted in grace and unity—a community that doesn’t demand perfection but thrives on shared burdens and mutual care.

Prayer for the Day

God what are you  showing me?  What am I going to do about it?

God help me to see one person that I can serve through a kind word, random act of kindness, or simple gift today?
