“Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.” (Galatians 6:7)

Post by Aaron Fields

Out of all the sports I have ever played, I loved basketball! I had some pretty great coaches throughout my career, but one coach I had when I was a freshman in high school stood out from the rest: Coach Webb. From day one, he seemed to be my biggest fan. He was always encouraging me, challenging me, and recognizing the hard work I tried to give every time I was on the court. Don’t let me fool you; I wasn’t very good. But, when he was coaching me, I felt like running through a brick wall to win. I gave everything that I had, because he decided from day one to sow seeds of encouragement and motivation. That was over 20 years ago, but I’ll never forget him. His words and actions have made me a better man today.

Paul’s words remind us of an undeniable truth: what we plant today will shape tomorrow. Just as seeds planted in good soil grow into strong trees, the kindness and encouragement we sow into others will produce lasting fruit. The gospel shows us the ultimate example of this. God planted the seed of His love in Jesus, and through His death and resurrection, we reap eternal life. This is grace: we get a harvest we didn’t earn because Jesus sowed goodness on our behalf. When we live in the Spirit, we have the opportunity to sow life, peace, and joy into the lives of those around us. Every word of kindness, every act of love is a seed planted in someone’s heart. It may take time, but God promises a harvest. So today, choose to plant goodness. Trust that He will grow it into something beautiful, both in others and in you. The seeds we sow—whether kindness, generosity, or encouragement—will grow. Invest in others with love, and watch how God multiplies it.

Prayer for the Day

God what are you  showing me?  What am I going to do about it?

God help me to see one person that I can serve through a kind word, random act of kindness, or simple gift today?
