“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
Post by Alisha Miller
A few years ago I was watching the MTV Movie Awards with my oldest daughter. We were both so excited when Chris Pratt won the Generation Award, because he is one of our all time favorite actors. He’s charming and hilarious, but what stood out to me even more was his boldness in sharing his faith. He used his acceptance speech to encourage others to recognize their worth in God. He could have thrown out the normal thank you’s to his fans, the writers and directors, etc., but he chose these words instead “God loves you. You are valuable.” What’s amazing about Pratt is how he navigates the pressures of Hollywood, a world that measures success by appearances, awards, and public opinion. Instead of letting fame define his value, he chooses to reflect the love and truth of Jesus.Paul speaks to this in 2 Corinthians 5:17:
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”
The Spirit-led life isn’t about proving yourself or gaining approval from others. It’s about resting in the truth of who you are in Christ—a new creation, loved and chosen by God.
Like Pratt, we live in a world that often pressures us to define ourselves by what we achieve or how others perceive us. But the good news of the gospel is that your value isn’t tied to your outward success. It’s rooted in your identity as God’s child.
When you understand this, your perspective shifts. Doing good and living with purpose become second nature—not to earn God’s love but to reflect the love you’ve already received.
Chris Pratt’s story reminds us that we don’t have to strive for approval. Instead, we can live freely, knowing that God’s grace and love define us.Remember: Your worth isn’t in outward achievements or appearances; it’s in your identity as God’s new creation. Live from the inside out, reflecting who you truly are in Christ. This week, ask yourself: Am I striving for approval, or am I living out of the love I’ve already received? Remember, you are valuable—not because of what you do but because of who you are in Christ
Prayer for the Day
God what are you showing me? What am I going to do about it?
God help me to see one person that I can serve through a kind word, random act of kindness, or simple gift today?
