Christmas At The Movies Week 1

Listen instead of reading

Take a Moment

Ask God what He wants to show you before reading today

“But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.’” (Luke 2:10-11)

Every year, Christmas movies light up our screens with stories of love, hope, and redemption. From It’s a Wonderful Life showing us the impact one life can have, to Elf reminding us of the joy that comes from spreading Christmas cheer, these films point us to truths that echo the heart of the Christmas story. They remind us to slow down, appreciate those around us, and focus on what really matters during the season.  While movies like It’s a Wonderful Life or A Charlie Brown Christmas give us glimpses of what matters most, the real Christmas story gives us something infinitely better: the good news of Jesus. Luke 2:10-11 tells us that the angel declared a message of “great joy for all the people”—that a Savior had been born.

The beauty of Christmas is that it’s not about our efforts to create the perfect holiday or make everything just right. It’s about celebrating the gift of Jesus, who entered our messy world to bring us joy, hope, and peace. The best stories—whether on the big screen or told around a family table—reflect the ultimate story of God’s love stepping into human history.  Christmas movies point us to joy and hope, but the real meaning of Christmas is found in Jesus, the Savior who brings us true and lasting peace. Let His story shape your season.

Prayer for the Day

God what are you  showing me?  What am I going to do about it?

God help me to see one person that I can serve through a kind word, random act of kindness, or simple gift today?
