“I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. (1 Corinthians 10:23)

In Home Alone, Kevin initially delights in his independence, making all his own decisions. He eats ice cream for dinner, watches movies he’s not allowed to, and lives without rules. But as time passes, the fun fades, and the consequences of his choices catch up with him. Kevin learns that freedom without guidance isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, and that real joy comes from having someone to guide and support you.

Kevin’s journey is a reminder of the love and wisdom of Jesus. Yes, we’re free to live as we please, but not everything is beneficial for us.

Jesus doesn’t impose rules to limit us; He walks beside us to guide us toward what’s best. His love isn’t just a blanket acceptance—it’s a love that wants to see us thrive.

Like a good parent who wants the best for their child, Jesus shows us a way of life that leads to peace and fulfillment. The beauty of the Christmas story is that Jesus didn’t just come to save us from sin; He came to walk beside us every day, teaching us how to live freely and lightly. Kevin’s chaos reminds us that without guidance, we can quickly find ourselves overwhelmed. But with Jesus beside us, we can navigate life’s challenges with grace and wisdom, knowing we are never alone.

Prayer for the Day

God what are you  showing me?  What am I going to do about it?

God help me to see one person that I can serve through a kind word, random act of kindness, or simple gift today?
