“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” (John 1:14)
At the end of Home Alone, Kevin’s family returns home. Though they had their differences, the reunion brings a sense of peace and joy that only family can provide. Kevin’s adventure taught him the value of the people he had taken for granted. It’s a poignant reminder that Christmas isn’t about perfection; it’s about presence—being together. The heart of the Christmas story is presence. Jesus didn’t stay distant; He became flesh and moved into our world. He entered our mess to bring us hope and salvation. Just as Kevin’s family reunited after all the chaos, Jesus came to reconcile us to God. He didn’t wait for us to get it all together; He came to us, full of grace and truth, meeting us in our brokenness.
When we understand that Jesus is Immanuel—God with us—we see the full picture of His love. He goes before us, walks beside us, and stands behind us, ensuring that we are never alone.
This is the beauty of Christmas: God chose to dwell with us so that we could experience the fullness of His love and grace. Christmas reminds us that we are never alone. God came to dwell with us, offering His presence and peace in every moment of our lives.
