I absolutely can not stand to lose things, it’s a huge pet peeve of mine. However, I’m also an absent minded busy body that runs from task to task, and forgets where I put things. So Yes, It’s me I’m the problem. I lose my phone all the time, at work, at home, sometimes the restaurant bathroom. I waste a ton of time and energy on the hunt for things that are usually right there in front of me.
Sometimes, we spend so much energy searching for joy, peace, or fulfillment that we miss what’s right in front of us. George Bailey longed for something bigger and better, only to realize that his small-town life was extraordinary. The good news of Christmas is that we don’t have to chase joy—it’s already here. Jesus came to bring us good news that causes great joy. That joy isn’t found in accomplishments or possessions; it’s found in knowing we are loved by God and living in that truth. This season, let’s stop searching and start savoring the incredible gift of God’s presence in our lives.
Prayer for the Day
God what are you showing me? What am I going to do about it?
God help me to see one person that I can serve through a kind word, random act of kindness, or simple gift today?
