🔥 Day 12: Freedom From Struggles

The Lie: You’ll never be free from your struggles
The Truth Bomb: Freedom starts with trusting the One who carries you

Read The Daily:
“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” – John 8:36

Post by Jimmy Bailey

I’m a huge sports fan and can be very competitive. One of the most frustrating things about sports is that the more talented team doesn’t always win. It can drive fans crazy when their team, expected to dominate, struggles to execute the simplest plays. A big reason this happens is pressure—the overwhelming expectation to be perfect. Some fan bases demand perfection from their teams, setting an impossible standard. In fact, the last NFL team to achieve a perfect season was the 1972 Miami Dolphins. That’s how rare it is!

I’ve felt that kind of pressure in my own life. There have been times I thought admitting to a struggle was a sign of weakness. I thought I had to hold it all together and perform flawlessly to be loved or accepted. But over time, I’ve come to realize something freeing: God’s love for me is perfect and doesn’t depend on my ability to be perfect.

God doesn’t place impossible expectations on us. Instead, He meets us in our struggles, understands our weaknesses, and offers us grace. Jesus doesn’t demand perfection—He carries us through the hard times and gives us the strength we need.

John 8:36 says, “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” That freedom isn’t found in striving to be perfect; it’s found in trusting Jesus with your struggles. The more I learn to trust Him in all areas of my life, the more freedom and abundant life I experience.

That freedom isn’t found in striving to be perfect; it’s found in trusting Jesus with your struggles.

Today, let this truth sink in: You don’t have to carry the burden of perfection. Jesus knows your struggles, and He walks with you through them. Trust Him to carry you—He’s a fan who never leaves your side, no matter how well you execute.  Perfection isn’t the goal—freedom is. And it starts with trusting the One who’s already won the victory.

So Jesus explained, “I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself. He does only what he sees the Father doing. Whatever the Father does, the Son also does. For the Father loves the Son and shows him everything he is doing. In fact, the Father will show him how to do even greater works than healing this man. Then you will truly be astonished. For just as the Father gives life to those he raises from the dead, so the Son gives life to anyone he wants. In addition, the Father judges no one. Instead, he has given the Son absolute authority to judge, so that everyone will honor the Son, just as they honor the Father. Anyone who does not honor the Son is certainly not honoring the Father who sent him. “I tell you the truth, those who listen to my message and believe in God who sent me have eternal life. They will never be condemned for their sins, but they have already passed from death into life. “And I assure you that the time is coming, indeed it’s here now, when the dead will hear my voice—the voice of the Son of God. And those who listen will live. The Father has life in himself, and he has granted that same life-giving power to his Son. And he has given him authority to judge everyone because he is the Son of Man. Don’t be so surprised! Indeed, the time is coming when all the dead in their graves will hear the voice of God’s Son, and they will rise again. Those who have done good will rise to experience eternal life, and those who have continued in evil will rise to experience judgment.  John 5:19-29

Dear brothers and sisters, be patient as you wait for the Lord’s return. Consider the farmers who patiently wait for the rains in the fall and in the spring. They eagerly look for the valuable harvest to ripen. You, too, must be patient. Take courage, for the coming of the Lord is near. Don’t grumble about each other, brothers and sisters, or you will be judged. For look—the Judge is standing at the door! For examples of patience in suffering, dear brothers and sisters, look at the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. We give great honor to those who endure under suffering. For instance, you know about Job, a man of great endurance. You can see how the Lord was kind to him at the end, for the Lord is full of tenderness and mercy. But most of all, my brothers and sisters, never take an oath, by heaven or earth or anything else. Just say a simple yes or no, so that you will not sin and be condemned.  James 5:7-12
