Love Shows Up
Read The Daily:
“For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” – Mark 10:45
Speaker: Debbie Blevins
Sometimes love isn’t loud. It’s not trending. It doesn’t come with fireworks or followers. Sometimes love just shows up—in quiet kitchens, in hospital rooms, in the messy middle of someone else’s story. Debbie Blevins reminded us that love doesn’t need a platform to matter. It just needs to show up.
From caring for her husband at home to opening her doors to a young woman in need (and later, her child), Debbie’s story is filled with moments where she didn’t just talk about faith—she lived it. And here’s the thing: she didn’t have a plan. She didn’t sign up to become someone’s lifeline. But when God whispered, “Be there,” she didn’t hesitate.
What if we stopped waiting for a sign and started paying attention to the people around us? Debbie’s message is clear—serving isn’t about getting it perfect. It’s about being present. That might look like making dinner for someone who’s struggling. It might be showing up when a friend texts “you busy?” even when you are. Jesus modeled it first—He didn’t ask to be served. He came to serve. And then He invited us to do the same.
You don’t have to be a pastor or public speaker to love people like Jesus did. You just have to be willing to go where He leads—even when it’s inconvenient. And when you do, love will show up. Through you.

God what are you showing me? What am I going to do about it?
God help me to see one person that I can serve through a kind word, random act of kindness, or simple gift today?

Some Pharisees and teachers of religious law now arrived from Jerusalem to see Jesus. They asked him, “Why do your disciples disobey our age-old tradition? For they ignore our tradition of ceremonial hand washing before they eat.” Jesus replied, “And why do you, by your traditions, violate the direct commandments of God? For instance, God says, ‘Honor your father and mother,’ and ‘Anyone who speaks disrespectfully of father or mother must be put to death.’ But you say it is all right for people to say to their parents, ‘Sorry, I can’t help you. For I have vowed to give to God what I would have given to you.’ In this way, you say they don’t need to honor their parents. And so you cancel the word of God for the sake of your own tradition. You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you, for he wrote, ‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship is a farce, for they teach man-made ideas as commands from God.’” Then Jesus called to the crowd to come and hear. “Listen,” he said, “and try to understand. It’s not what goes into your mouth that defiles you; you are defiled by the words that come out of your mouth.” Then the disciples came to him and asked, “Do you realize you offended the Pharisees by what you just said?” Jesus replied, “Every plant not planted by my heavenly Father will be uprooted, so ignore them. They are blind guides leading the blind, and if one blind person guides another, they will both fall into a ditch.” Then Peter said to Jesus, “Explain to us the parable that says people aren’t defiled by what they eat.” “Don’t you understand yet?” Jesus asked. “Anything you eat passes through the stomach and then goes into the sewer. But the words you speak come from the heart—that’s what defiles you. For from the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, all sexual immorality, theft, lying, and slander. These are what defile you. Eating with unwashed hands will never defile you.” Matthew 15:1-20
Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God. So anyone who rebels against authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and they will be punished. For the authorities do not strike fear in people who are doing right, but in those who are doing wrong. Would you like to live without fear of the authorities? Do what is right, and they will honor you. The authorities are God’s servants, sent for your good. But if you are doing wrong, of course you should be afraid, for they have the power to punish you. They are God’s servants, sent for the very purpose of punishing those who do what is wrong. So you must submit to them, not only to avoid punishment, but also to keep a clear conscience. Pay your taxes, too, for these same reasons. For government workers need to be paid. They are serving God in what they do. Give to everyone what you owe them: Pay your taxes and government fees to those who collect them, and give respect and honor to those who are in authority. Romans 13:1-7
