The Day Jesus Dropped the Mic
Read The Daily:
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me… to proclaim freedom for the prisoners.” – Luke 4:18
Speaker: Trent Carpenter
What if religion got it all wrong? What if following Jesus wasn’t about doing more, but realizing it’s already done? Trent shared about Jesus walking into His hometown and reading the scroll of Isaiah, you could almost hear the mic drop. Jesus reads a prophecy about freedom, healing, and favor… and then says, “Yeah, that’s about Me. And it’s happening right now.”
Boom.
For a lot of us, faith can feel like a to-do list we’re constantly failing. Be better. Try harder. Clean up first. But Jesus didn’t show up to add pressure—He came to set us free. Trent said something for all of us to think about: “We’re suckers for religion. But Jesus? He’s about relationship.” And it’s not about earning that relationship. It’s already been paid for.
If you missed it, you can check out Trent’s story below about his psycho brother flipping the script on his friends and their plan to hopefully scare him to death. His point was simple —Jesus flipped the script too. Religion says “do.” Jesus says “done.” And when that truth finally clicks, everything changes. You’re not trying to get closer to God; you realize He’s already come close to you.
So whatever’s got you feeling stuck, ashamed, or not enough—hand it over. Jesus already covered it. You don’t have to do more. You just have to believe what He already did. That’s the kind of news that changes everything.

God help me to see one person that I can serve through a kind word, random act of kindness, or simple gift today?

Read The New Testament In A Year
One day the Pharisees and Sadducees came to test Jesus, demanding that he show them a miraculous sign from heaven to prove his authority. He replied, “You know the saying, ‘Red sky at night means fair weather tomorrow; red sky in the morning means foul weather all day.’ You know how to interpret the weather signs in the sky, but you don’t know how to interpret the signs of the times! Only an evil, adulterous generation would demand a miraculous sign, but the only sign I will give them is the sign of the prophet Jonah.” Then Jesus left them and went away. Later, after they crossed to the other side of the lake, the disciples discovered they had forgotten to bring any bread. “Watch out!” Jesus warned them. “Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.” At this they began to argue with each other because they hadn’t brought any bread. Jesus knew what they were saying, so he said, “You have so little faith! Why are you arguing with each other about having no bread? Don’t you understand even yet? Don’t you remember the 5,000 I fed with five loaves, and the baskets of leftovers you picked up? Or the 4,000 I fed with seven loaves, and the large baskets of leftovers you picked up? Why can’t you understand that I’m not talking about bread? So again I say, ‘Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.’” Then at last they understood that he wasn’t speaking about the yeast in bread, but about the deceptive teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees. Matthew 16:1-12
Accept other believers who are weak in faith, and don’t argue with them about what they think is right or wrong. For instance, one person believes it’s all right to eat anything. But another believer with a sensitive conscience will eat only vegetables. Those who feel free to eat anything must not look down on those who don’t. And those who don’t eat certain foods must not condemn those who do, for God has accepted them. Who are you to condemn someone else’s servants? Their own master will judge whether they stand or fall. And with the Lord’s help, they will stand and receive his approval. In the same way, some think one day is more holy than another day, while others think every day is alike. You should each be fully convinced that whichever day you choose is acceptable. Those who worship the Lord on a special day do it to honor him. Those who eat any kind of food do so to honor the Lord, since they give thanks to God before eating. And those who refuse to eat certain foods also want to please the Lord and give thanks to God. For we don’t live for ourselves or die for ourselves. If we live, it’s to honor the Lord. And if we die, it’s to honor the Lord. So whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. Christ died and rose again for this very purpose—to be Lord both of the living and of the dead. So why do you condemn another believer? Why do you look down on another believer? Remember, we will all stand before the judgment seat of God. For the Scriptures say, “‘As surely as I live,’ says the LORD, ‘every knee will bend to me, and every tongue will declare allegiance to God.’” Yes, each of us will give a personal account to God. Romans 14:1-12
