Empty Ain’t a Bad Place to Start

Read The Daily:
“God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.” — Matthew 5:3

Ever feel like you’ve got nothing left in the tank? Emotionally? Spiritually? Physically? You’re running, doing your best, showing up—but if you’re honest, it’s all fumes and caffeine.

In Luke 7, this woman walks into a room full of people who look full—but she’s the only one who knows she’s empty. And that ends up being the game-changer. Because Jesus isn’t repelled by her need. He’s drawn to it. She pours out what she’s got, and that moment—awkward, messy, beautiful—gets remembered for generations.

It’s weird how we’re taught to hide our empty. Keep hustling. Keep proving. Keep pretending. But maybe that’s the thing that’s keeping us from getting filled. Jesus says the Kingdom starts with people who know they need help. Not the experts. Not the perfect. Just the honest.

The Kingdom starts with people who know they need help. Not the experts. Not the perfect. Just the honest

So if you feel like you’re running low today, good. That’s where grace begins. Not when you’re crushing it, but when you’re willing to say, “I can’t do this without You.”

Prayer for the Day

God help me to see one person that I can serve through a kind word, random act of kindness, or simple gift today?

Then Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan River. He was led by the Spirit in the wilderness, where he was tempted by the devil for forty days. Jesus ate nothing all that time and became very hungry. Then the devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become a loaf of bread.” But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say, ‘People do not live by bread alone.’” Then the devil took him up and revealed to him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. “I will give you the glory of these kingdoms and authority over them,” the devil said, “because they are mine to give to anyone I please. I will give it all to you if you will worship me.” Jesus replied, “The Scriptures say, ‘You must worship the LORD your God and serve only him.’” Then the devil took him to Jerusalem, to the highest point of the Temple, and said, “If you are the Son of God, jump off! For the Scriptures say, ‘He will order his angels to protect and guard you. And they will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone.’” Jesus responded, “The Scriptures also say, ‘You must not test the LORD your God.’” When the devil had finished tempting Jesus, he left him until the next opportunity came. Luke 4:1-13

In every place of worship, I want men to pray with holy hands lifted up to God, free from anger and controversy. And I want women to be modest in their appearance. They should wear decent and appropriate clothing and not draw attention to themselves by the way they fix their hair or by wearing gold or pearls or expensive clothes. For women who claim to be devoted to God should make themselves attractive by the good things they do. Women should learn quietly and submissively. I do not let women teach men or have authority over them. Let them listen quietly. For God made Adam first, and afterward he made Eve. And it was not Adam who was deceived by Satan. The woman was deceived, and sin was the result. But women will be saved through childbearing, assuming they continue to live in faith, love, holiness, and modesty. 1 Timothy 2:8-15
