Living On Mission | Saturday – Week 1
Take a Moment
Ask God what He wants to show you before reading today
Read The Daily
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19)
When you think of the word “mission,” what comes to mind? Tom Cruise? Missionaries in faraway lands? Volunteer work? Or is it something you rarely consider in your day-to-day life?
Jesus calls each of His followers to join Him on mission. But we don’t have to go halfway around the world (unless God calls us there). Our mission field is the everyday world we live in—our workplaces, schools, neighborhoods, and families.
How do we live on mission? Jesus said to “make disciples.” A disciple is simply a simply a Family of Servants on Mission that help others live and love like Jesus. We live on mission by showing and sharing the love of Christ right where we are.
It starts by realizing how much you are truly loved by God and loving others as you have been loved—listening, serving, and meeting needs. When people ask why we care, or become more intrigued by our lifestyle, they start to want to live a life without constantly performing or feeling unworthy. They also get to play a role in helping others get to do the same thing. By the way, you are one of those people.
You have a unique mission field of people in your life that no one else can reach quite like you. Ask God to show you how to share His love with them. Your simple acts of care and loving words might open their hearts to the gospel. You have the incredible privilege of helping expand God’s family!
Prayer for the Day
God what are you showing me? What am I going to do about it?
God help me to see one person that I can serve through a kind word, random act of kindness, or simple gift today?
