đ¨ Still Scared of Letting God Down?

Ever carry this low-key fear that Godâs disappointed in you?
LikeâHe forgives you⌠but Heâs frustrated. Like He loves you⌠but He doesnât like you. So you try harder, keep quiet, stay guilty, and hope youâll sneak into heaven on a technicality.
This Sunday, weâre in Week 3 of our series Jesus Ruined Religionâand weâre talking about one of the most misunderstood fears in faith.
Itâs not about fearing a God whoâs waiting to punish you. Itâs about meeting a Jesus who shared a cross with a thief⌠and gave him paradise without a single religious achievement.
If youâve ever felt too late, too dirty, or too inconsistent to be loved by Godâyou need this one.

Read The New Testament In A Year
After telling this story, Jesus went on toward Jerusalem, walking ahead of his disciples. As he came to the towns of Bethphage and Bethany on the Mount of Olives, he sent two disciples ahead. âGo into that village over there,â he told them. âAs you enter it, you will see a young donkey tied there that no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. If anyone asks, âWhy are you untying that colt?â just say, âThe Lord needs it.ââ So they went and found the colt, just as Jesus had said. And sure enough, as they were untying it, the owners asked them, âWhy are you untying that colt?â And the disciples simply replied, âThe Lord needs it.â So they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their garments over it for him to ride on. As he rode along, the crowds spread out their garments on the road ahead of him. When he reached the place where the road started down the Mount of Olives, all of his followers began to shout and sing as they walked along, praising God for all the wonderful miracles they had seen. âBlessings on the King who comes in the name of the LORD! Peace in heaven, and glory in highest heaven!â But some of the Pharisees among the crowd said, âTeacher, rebuke your followers for saying things like that!â He replied, âIf they kept quiet, the stones along the road would burst into cheers!ââ Luke 19:28-40
Dear friends, if we deliberately continue sinning after we have received knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice that will cover these sins. There is only the terrible expectation of Godâs judgment and the raging fire that will consume his enemies. For anyone who refused to obey the law of Moses was put to death without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. Just think how much worse the punishment will be for those who have trampled on the Son of God, and have treated the blood of the covenant, which made us holy, as if it were common and unholy, and have insulted and disdained the Holy Spirit who brings Godâs mercy to us. For we know the one who said, âI will take revenge. I will pay them back.â He also said, âThe LORD will judge his own people.â It is a terrible thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Think back on those early days when you first learned about Christ. Remember how you remained faithful even though it meant terrible suffering. Sometimes you were exposed to public ridicule and were beaten, and sometimes you helped others who were suffering the same things. You suffered along with those who were thrown into jail, and when all you owned was taken from you, you accepted it with joy. You knew there were better things waiting for you that will last forever. So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you! Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do Godâs will. Then you will receive all that he has promised. âFor in just a little while, the Coming One will come and not delay. And my righteous ones will live by faith. But I will take no pleasure in anyone who turns away.â But we are not like those who turn away from God to their own destruction. We are the faithful ones, whose souls will be saved. Hebrews 10:26-39
