Living From, Not For

Read The Daily:
“See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are!” – 1 John 3:1

Most of us spend life chasing approval. From teachers, coaches, bosses, parents, even strangers online. Do enough, perform well enough, look good enough—and maybe you’ll finally be enough. It’s exhausting, isn’t it? Because no matter how many “likes” or pats on the back you collect, the scoreboard always resets tomorrow.

But God doesn’t relate to you like that. He doesn’t sit with a clipboard waiting to see if you measured up. He calls you His child. Not because you nailed it today, but because Jesus already secured it forever. You don’t have to live for His approval. You get to live from it.

Think about how freeing that could be. Instead of hustling to earn acceptance, you can walk in the confidence of already being loved. Instead of comparing your highlight reel to someone else’s, you can celebrate that the Father’s smile is already on you.

So take a deep breath today. You don’t have to prove anything. You’re not trying out for God’s team—you’re already in the family. Live from that, not for it.

Prayer for the Day

God what are you  showing me?  What am I going to do about it?
God help me to see one person that I can serve through a kind word, random act of kindness, or simple gift today?

Read The New Testament In A Year

The Festival of Unleavened Bread, which is also called Passover, was approaching. The leading priests and teachers of religious law were plotting how to kill Jesus, but they were afraid of the people’s reaction. Then Satan entered into Judas Iscariot, who was one of the twelve disciples, and he went to the leading priests and captains of the Temple guard to discuss the best way to betray Jesus to them. They were delighted, and they promised to give him money. So he agreed and began looking for an opportunity to betray Jesus so they could arrest him when the crowds weren’t around. Now the Festival of Unleavened Bread arrived, when the Passover lamb is sacrificed. Jesus sent Peter and John ahead and said, “Go and prepare the Passover meal, so we can eat it together.” “Where do you want us to prepare it?” they asked him. He replied, “As soon as you enter Jerusalem, a man carrying a pitcher of water will meet you. Follow him. At the house he enters, say to the owner, ‘The Teacher asks: Where is the guest room where I can eat the Passover meal with my disciples?’ He will take you upstairs to a large room that is already set up. That is where you should prepare our meal.” They went off to the city and found everything just as Jesus had said, and they prepared the Passover meal there..  Luke 22:1-13

Keep on loving each other as brothers and sisters. Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it! Remember those in prison, as if you were there yourself. Remember also those being mistreated, as if you felt their pain in your own bodies. Give honor to marriage, and remain faithful to one another in marriage. God will surely judge people who are immoral and those who commit adultery. Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.” So we can say with confidence. Hebrews 13:1-16
