It’s Boring Most Of The Time | Thursday – Week 10

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9)
One of my heroes is a guy by the name of Ralph Moore. Ralph’s a pastor well up in his 70’s that many believe is responsible for starting over 2,500 hundred churches in the United States and around the world. I’ve read at least 5 books from him and actually even met him once (not trying to give off stalker vibes). Someone who’s done something like that must be a true Alpha leader right? If ever you listen to him or read his stuff, it’s actually the opposite. He’s just simply a man that decided years ago that he wanted to try to see others be and do more than he’d ever be able to do. The reason I’m sharing his story is because of one quote he had in one of his books. He said that he thinks most people don’t see God do as much through their lives as they could because…it’s boring. If I hand out 150 food baskets or speak to a crowd of several hundred then it feels great. Meeting once a week with a group of guys isn’t near as flashy or exciting. Maybe the secret is in the boring.
Doing God’s work sometimes feels slow and fruitless. We get discouraged when we don’t immediately see results. But living on mission requires perseverance. We need to keep listening, serving, and sharing Christ’s love even when we want to quit. At just the right time, we’ll reap a harvest as God draws people to Himself in His perfect timing. Don’t get discouraged; keep planting seeds! The yield is greater than you can imagine.
Prayer for the Day
God what are you showing me? What am I going to do about it?
God help me to see one person that I can serve through a kind word, random act of kindness, or simple gift today?
