Start Where You Actually Are
Read The Daily:
“Pour out your heart to him, for God is our refuge.” — Psalm 62:8
Ever tried using GPS when you have no service? It keeps “recalculating,” but it can’t help you because it doesn’t actually know where you are. Honestly, that’s how a lot of us try to live spiritually — asking God for direction without ever telling Him where we truly are. We give Him the cleaned-up version: “I’m fine.” “Busy week.” “Just tired.” Meanwhile our soul is waving a massive flare gun yelling, “Help!”
The story Jesus told about the Pharisee and the tax collector is basically a tale of two starting points. One guy started from a fantasy — his impressive version of himself. The other started from reality — “God, I need mercy.” Only one of them walked away lighter. Why? Because grace can only meet you at your actual location, not your imaginary one.
Maybe that’s why pretending is so exhausting. You can keep the mask on, keep the smile on, keep the act going — but none of that moves you anywhere. Honesty, even small honesty, is what opens the door for God to guide you, strengthen you, or simply sit with you. He doesn’t need your polished answers. He just wants your real coordinates.
So today, do a quick heart check: Where am I really? What hurts? What’s heavy? What’s good? What’s confusing? Tell God that — not the version you think you’re supposed to say. Starting where you actually are is the most spiritual thing you’ll do all weekend. Let grace meet you there.
Prayer for the Day
God what are you showing me? What am I going to do about it?
God help me to see one person that I can serve through a kind word, random act of kindness, or simple gift today?

Then the apostles and elders together with the whole church in Jerusalem chose delegates, and they sent them to Antioch of Syria with Paul and Barnabas to report on this decision. The men chosen were two of the church leaders—Judas (also called Barsabbas) and Silas. This is the letter they took with them: “This letter is from the apostles and elders, your brothers in Jerusalem. It is written to the Gentile believers in Antioch, Syria, and Cilicia. Greetings! “We understand that some men from here have troubled you and upset you with their teaching, but we did not send them! So we decided, having come to complete agreement, to send you official representatives, along with our beloved Barnabas and Paul, who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. We are sending Judas and Silas to confirm what we have decided concerning your question. “For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us to lay no greater burden on you than these few requirements: You must abstain from eating food offered to idols, from consuming blood or the meat of strangled animals, and from sexual immorality. If you do this, you will do well. Farewell.” The messengers went at once to Antioch, where they called a general meeting of the believers and delivered the letter. And there was great joy throughout the church that day as they read this encouraging message. Then Judas and Silas, both being prophets, spoke at length to the believers, encouraging and strengthening their faith. They stayed for a while, and then the believers sent them back to the church in Jerusalem with a blessing of peace. Acts 15:22-35
Then I looked again, and I heard the voices of thousands and millions of angels around the throne and of the living beings and the elders. And they sang in a mighty chorus: “Worthy is the Lamb who was slaughtered— to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing.” And then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea. They sang: “Blessing and honor and glory and power belong to the one sitting on the throne and to the Lamb forever and ever.” And the four living beings said, “Amen!” And the twenty-four elders fell down and worshiped the Lamb. Revelation 5:11-14
