The Niagara Falls of Love

Read The Daily:
Now all glory to God, who is able through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we can ask or think. Glory to God in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21

We all know we have to keep buying gas for our cars, right? It’s expensive, and sometimes it feels like a chore. But when Paul talks about God’s love filling us up, he compares it to Niagara Falls. It’s not a limited supply that we have to ration or worry about running out of. It’s a constant, overwhelming flow. We don’t have to ‘keep a little gas intake today because tomorrow I’m doing something big.’ We can literally stand under that waterfall and be filled, all the time.

This is such good news because, let’s be honest, we often try to fill our lives with the wrong stuff. We wonder why we keep feeling empty even when we’re constantly trying to ‘refuel’ with things that just don’t sustain us. But God’s love isn’t like that. It’s an unlimited supply, more than we could ever imagine, and it’s the ultimate fuel for our lives. It’s not something we earn or manage; it’s a gift we receive.

When we connect to this immeasurable, never-ending supply of God’s love, things start to change. We don’t have to manufacture our own strength or try to power through on our own. God is able, through His mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we can ask or think. This isn’t about a checklist of things to do to earn more power; it’s about realizing we have an unlimited source available. When we let God’s love fuel us, we begin to live differently, not because we’re trying harder, but because we’ve been loved differently.

Read The New Testament In A Year

Later the Master selected seventy and sent them ahead of him in pairs to every town and place where he intended to go. He gave them this charge: “What a huge harvest! And how few the harvest hands. So on your knees; ask the God of the Harvest to send harvest hands. “On your way! But be careful–this is hazardous work. You’re like lambs in a wolf pack. “Travel light. Comb and toothbrush and no extra luggage. “Don’t loiter and make small talk with everyone you meet along the way. “When you enter a home, greet the family, ‘Peace.’ If your greeting is received, then it’s a good place to stay. But if it’s not received, take it back and get out. Don’t impose yourself. “Stay at one home, taking your meals there, for a worker deserves three square meals. Don’t move from house to house, looking for the best cook in town. “When you enter a town and are received, eat what they set before you, heal anyone who is sick, and tell them, ‘God’s kingdom is right on your doorstep!’ “When you enter a town and are not received, go out in the street and say, ‘The only thing we got from you is the dirt on our feet, and we’re giving it back. Did you have any idea that God’s kingdom was right on your doorstep?’ Sodom will have it better on Judgment Day than the town that rejects you. “Doom, Chorazin! Doom, Bethsaida! If Tyre and Sidon had been given half the chances given you, they’d have been on their knees long ago, repenting and crying for mercy. Tyre and Sidon will have it easy on Judgment Day compared to you. Luke 10:1-14

Companions as we are in this work with you, we beg you, please don’t squander one bit of this marvelous life God has given us. God reminds us, I heard your call in the nick of time; The day you needed me, I was there to help. Well, now is the right time to listen, the day to be helped. Don’t put it off; don’t frustrate God’s work by showing up late, throwing a question mark over everything we’re doing. Our work as God’s servants gets validated–or not–in the details. People are watching us as we stay at our post, alertly, unswervingly . . . in hard times, tough times, bad times; when we’re beaten up, jailed, and mobbed; working hard, working late, working without eating; with pure heart, clear head, steady hand; in gentleness, holiness, and honest love; when we’re telling the truth, and when God’s showing his power; when we’re doing our best setting things right; when we’re praised, and when we’re blamed; slandered, and honored; true to our word, though distrusted; ignored by the world, but recognized by God; terrifically alive, though rumored to be dead; beaten within an inch of our lives, but refusing to die; 2 Corinthians 6:1-9
