We are a Family of Servants on Mission that helps others live like Jesus.
VIEW/PRINT WEEKLY GUIDE

If you grew up in a blue collar family like I did, then you know the famous phrases, “suck it up” or “rub a little dirt on it”. I have to confess I still want to raise my kids with a level of toughness to handle some of life’s difficult challenges. However, if not careful, they can grow up thinking the exact same thing I did. It’s the idea that you should never stop to examine why you are doing what you do. Just keep working hard and don’t be a baby.
The dangerous part is that philosphy isn’t entirely true or accurate. It leads most of us to believe the DO=BE lies.
The way of the world is: We do things (perform, serve, work etc.) to have value in the eyes of our family, friends, parents, s
pouse, siblings, boss, pastor, etc. maybe even God. If we do a good enough job and are perceived as valuable, then people will want us around. We will be wanted. Out of this activity we often form our identity. What we DO has led to who we ARE. Or at least we think it has… But there is a huge problem with this, it is terribly dangerous, it eventually crushes us,and it goes against how God now sees us.
Don’t believe the DO=BE lies anymore.
If we are in Christ, if we follow Jesus, then we have a new…or rather Renewed identity based on who God is…
And not based on what we DO…but on what Jesus DID
And not based on who we WERE but in who who now ARE in Christ
Let that sink in and relax a little. You don’t have to work harder or do more to earn God’s favor. Jesus already did that for you. This is our true Identity and who we are in light of who God is and what He’s done in Christ.
We are a Family of Servants on Mission that helps others live like Jesus.
UP. God the Father has adopted us into his FAMILY. We are dearly loved children. Our worth, security and joy come from knowing the grace and love of God. As family we seek to love and treat everyone else as brothers and sisters and to display the love of the Father to the world.
IN. God the Son has rescued us to be his SERVANTS. We are not masters of our own lives because we tend to mess it up anyways. As Jesus came and served us, ultimately through his death on the cross, we are now called to serve others like He did, living Epic Lives makes Jesus’ kingdom tangible and causes others to be interested in why we live like we live.
OUT. God the Holy Spirit has empowered and sent us to be on MISSION. We have an amazing opportunity and responsibility to be co-workers with God in proclaiming actual Good News to the world. To live on mission, we reorient our whole lives around the mission of seeing others do what we do.
