The Good News is that the Gospel frees us from lies which causes our problems.
VIEW/PRINT WEEKLY GUIDE
We all struggle with lies in our hearts that lead to sinful actions and damaged relationships. These “enemies of the heart” include:
Guilt’s Lie: I need to fear others
This lie causes us to hide parts of ourselves, afraid of what others will think. We try to earn acceptance rather than receiving God’s grace.
Anger’s Lie: I need to be in control
When life feels out of control, we grasp for power, manipulating circumstances and people. We play God rather than trusting God’s sovereignty.
Jealousy’s Lie: I need to prove myself
Comparing ourselves to others, we strive to perform, desperately hungry for affirmation we already have in Christ. We seek glory rather than glorying in God.
Greed’s Lie: I need more
Believing God’s provision isn’t enough, we look to money, success, relationships to satisfy us, inevitably feeling the emptiness of idols. We find life in stuff rather than what God provides.

The Gospel really is good news for every area of our lives!
The Cure of the Gospel
God is Glorious so I don’t need to fear others – We are fully loved in Christ, adopted into God’s family. We don’t need others’ approval but live freely and honestly. (1 John 3:1)
God is Great so I don’t need to be in control – He holds all things together by his mighty power. We can rest, trusting God’s sovereign care rather than grasping for control. (Colossians 1:17)
God is Gracious so I don’t need to prove myself – While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Our acceptance is secured by God’s grace, not our performance. (Romans 5:8)
God is Good so I don’t need to look elsewhere for satisfaction – God withholds no good thing from those who walk with integrity. In finding our satisfaction in Christ, we discover life’s greatest treasure. (Psalm 84:11)
As we root our identity in who God says we are and what he has done for us in Christ, we walk in freedom from the enemies of the heart. By God’s grace, we can live fully alive to him and fully alive to love and serve others.
The gospel truth about God’s character frees us from these destructive lies
