Living Fully and Making Every Moment Count
Life is a gift. But it’s easy to sleepwalk through each day, just going through the motions without intending to live life to the fullest. Jesus shows us a better way in John 13. He demonstrates what it means to live with purpose – to make every moment count for what matters most. Life can often feel mundane for all of us and we all can fall into routines, just going through the motions each day without much purpose. But Jesus offers so much more – he wants to give you a completely new and epic life.
When you follow him, it’s like you get a full reset. You become a new creation – God’s own child. Your past doesn’t define you anymore. You’re given a fresh start and a future full of hope. Jesus said he came so we can have real life to the fullest. Not a boring, mediocre existence, but daily adventure and meaning.
It Starts With What We All Need
As humans, we all share basic needs for security, belonging, and purpose. We want to feel safe and know we matter. Jesus meets these core needs by giving us:
A New Life – When we follow Jesus, we become children of God with an eternal inheritance (John 1:12). We have security in God’s family.
A New Command – Jesus commands us to “love one another” as he loved us (John 13:34). We belong as we love and serve others.
A New Purpose – Jesus sends us out on mission to help others live and love like He did (Matthew 28:19-20). We find significance in pointing people to real life in Christ.
New Life
What if you could stop striving to earn God’s approval and rest in his unconditional love for you? When you make mistakes, God doesn’t shake his head in disappointment. He cheers for you to get back up, telling you who you are in him. This grace empowers you to ditch the guilt and enjoy the adventure of life with Jesus. He’s not a scorekeeper waiting for you to mess up. He’s your biggest fan who already approves of you. This new life in God’s grace is one of freedom, purpose and meaning. When you know you’re fully loved, you worry less about others’ opinions. You can fully embrace the gifts God has given you to bless the world.
New Command
What if the Christian life was not about following rules but freely loving others out of God’s love for you? Serving becomes a joy, not an obligation. Why because that’s how you were created to operate. Grace also transforms how you see others. You stop judging their flaws and show the same patience God shows you. With criticism silenced, you can simply be a friend. Sin loses its grip when it’s no longer about bad behavior but experiencing Jesus’ unconditional love. Let that love spill over to others.
New Purpose
What if you didn’t have to wait until you’re “good enough” to make a difference for God? He wants to use you right now, flaws and all. He believes in you. Your purpose is not earning God’s approval, but letting the good news of his grace renew your mind. As you become convinced of Christ’s unconditional love, it naturally flows out of you to others. You have a unique role to play in God’s mission that only you can fulfill. He wants you to be fully you. Don’t wait – walk in your purpose today.
Just like Jesus, the Epic Life He offers will always be more caught than taught.
