I’m not trying to frighten you by my letters. For some say, “Paul’s letters are demanding and forceful, but in person he is weak, and his speeches are worthless!” (2 Corinthians 10:9-10)
I love all Rocky movies, Rudy and one of my other favorite movies may surprise you. It’s an animated movie called Wreck-it-Ralph. However, it is not the title character that I loved in the movie, but his sidekick, Vanellope Von Schweetz. “Known as ‘The Glitch’, Vanellope is a pixelating programming mistake in the candy-coated cart racing game Sugar Rush. With a racer’s spirit embedded in her coding, Vanellope is determined to earn her place in the starting lineup amongst other racers. Only problem: the other racers don’t want her glitching in the game.
Due to a situation that was beyond her control, she was left with a glitch that made her different, a glitch that those around her did not understand and were led to believe that she was broken and no longer worthy to be included in their world. Vanellope was told over and over that she was a mistake and that she was not even supposed to exist. Does this sound or feel familiar? Perhaps there is something that has transpired in your life – a choice that did not turn out like you hoped or a life altering event that you had no control over – that has you feeling like you now have some sort of glitch. You have a scar. You have something that just gnaws on you and on your mind. Whatever that “glitch” is for you (a failed marriage; someone who passed away; heartbreak; the dream job you lost; financial hardship, the list goes on), God can transform your glitch into a gift.
I love the daily verse above. Paul seems to be a little self conscious about his speaking ability. They had groups that preferred to hear other people preach more. They even made the claim that his letters were powerful, yet in person, he wasn’t. This may have been his glitch. But we are still reading his letters 2,000+ years later. What he may have possibly viewed as a glitch or weakness, God used to transform lives thousands of years later. Your glitch can be used as a gift from God too!
Prayer for the Day
God what are you showing me? What am I going to do about it?
God help me to see one person that I can serve through a kind word, random act of kindness, or simple gift today?
