Bless with Words | Tuesday – Week 5
Listen instead of reading
Take a Moment
Ask God what He wants to show you before reading today
Read The Daily
“Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.” (Colossians 4:6)
My brother was telling me about a documentary he watched on 911. I will try to summarize as quickly as possible. Basically it was the story of a guy struggling with addiction that slept through the attacks and woke up to a message from his sister that read, “I assume you were out there helping”. He felt so guilty that he thought he’d go out to at least say he didn’t stay in his apartment. While walking, some military personnel were searching through rubble and asked him to help. This guy responded I’m not the guy to be able to help. ” One of the soldiers said, “what do you do for a living?” He replied, “I used to be a paramedic”. The soldier replied, “you’re exactly the person we need”. They not only went on to save several lives, but those words saved his own life as well. What if you could be the person to help others hear, “you’re exactly the person we need!”
Our words have power to build others up. Through small words of affirmation, we can make a big impact: thanking the barista, complimenting a stranger’s outfit, telling someone you’re proud of them. Listen for opportunities to encourage and speak positively this week. Share how much someone means to you. Remind co-workers of their value. Write a note of appreciation. Ask God to use your words to bless those around you.
Prayer for the Day
God what are you showing me? What am I going to do about it?
God help me to see one person that I can serve through a kind word, random act of kindness, or simple gift today?
