“Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony…” (John 4:39)
In the Carpenter home, we have three swimmers “aka dolphins”. My wife, son and daughter can all swim like Michael Phelps. Guess who can barely swim and struggles to stay afloat. Yours truly. Here’s the best part. Guess which family member has saved three total people from drowning? Not the dolphin/Phelps love-childs. Yours truly again. How does a bad swimmer who would be the least likely candidate, save multiple people from drowning? It’s actually really simple. I was the closest person and knew I had to help. Most people feel like they would be the last person in the world for God to use as His messenger, but here’s a better question. Who are you close to that may be struggling or treading water? I bet you can help by talking, sharing your story or just simply being good news to them. God delights in using the most unlikely people to share His good news.
The woman at the well was an outcast and immoral, yet Jesus revealed Himself to her and she became His messenger. God’s criteria for using someone is not position or perfection, but availability and authenticity. When we share our story, God can use it in unexpected ways.
Prayer for the Day
God what are you showing me? What am I going to do about it?
God help me to see one person that I can serve through a kind word, random act of kindness, or simple gift today?
