As for other matters, brothers and sisters, pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly (2 Thessalonians 3:1)
Rabbits are one of the fastest animals in the world to multiply. Did you know that one rabbit averages around 1000 babies in a lifetime? If one rabbit has 1000, and those rabbits have another 1000 babies…you do the math. Within a very short amount of time, you have a lot of rabbits! What if we all operated more like rabbits than elephants? Elephants are big, heavy and they reproduce very, very slowly. In fact, for an elephant to give birth, the gestation (pregnancy} period is twenty-two months! Most elephants average around five or six babies in a lifetime.
As we think about the Kingdom of God and how it grows, it is easy to see that the New Testament church had “rabbits” not “elephants”. The strategy? Followers met in homes, shared and showed others how to live and love like Jesus, God quickly multiplied it and then they prayed and asked those normal everyday people to repeat the process. Every follower of Jesus saw themselves as being sent. The results. This movement grew and spread until the gospel was known throughout all of Asia.
In John 4, one woman’s testimony about Jesus impacted her whole town. A single drop of grace can ripple outward in expanding rings of blessing. As God touches our lives, we can pass that grace on through simple acts of kindness, prayer, and sharing our story. You never know how God will use your faithfulness to spread good news far beyond what you can see.
Prayer for the Day
God what are you showing me? What am I going to do about it?
God help me to see one person that I can serve through a kind word, random act of kindness, or simple gift today?
