Matthew 16:17-19 Every now and then, I’ll have a friend tell me they have a great investment opportunity, and I should consider it. It can range from diet shakes, workout plans, electronics, or even companies that are “can’t miss” because of some news that just broke. While some of these would probably have been decent investments, I’m just not interested in multi-level marketing, pyramid schemes, or risky businesses. Most rich people have taken a few steps of faith with risky investments to get where they are, but, if we want to truly invest in something that is can’t miss, then there’s truly only one option. The local church is the greatest investment on the planet. God designed it to spread the gospel – the good news that Jesus gave his life to forgive us of our sins – to the whole world throughout all of history. God created the church to be a place of healing where people can not only meet Jesus, but build relationships with others who will be there for them as they put their lives back together. Best of all, God works through the local church, so it can’t be stopped. What God started 2,000 years ago when He entrusted His followers to carry the message of God’s love to the world can be and should be the most powerful force on the planet because it has the power of our almighty God behind it. So, as you invest your time and resources, remember that the local church is the greatest investment on the planet. If you want to invest in businesses, multi-level marketing companies, and the like to bolster your income, go right ahead. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. But, don’t forget that you also have an opportunity to be a part of the surest thing in the world – God’s church. // TWO-A-DAYS // GO A LITTLE FARTHER WITH YOUR DAILY DEVOTIONS // Go through these questions with your spouse, kids, or friend, or you can even journal about the answers to these questions: What was the best part of your day? What was the toughest part of your day? Where did you mess up today? Where did you see God today? Reflect: Do you view your generosity to the church as an investment into the lives of others? Why or why not? Pray: As you begin your time with God today, take just a few minutes thanking God for those who invested in the church to the point that it lead you to be impacted by God’s love.
