David kept his promise to Bathsheba. He confirmed their son Solomon as his successor even though Solomon wasn’t his oldest living son. In their last meeting, David gave Solomon a blessing and a challenge when he said, “Be strong, therefore, and show yourself a man.” David reminded Solomon of God’s promises. He handed over unfinished business to his son, entrusting him with scores that hadn’t been settled, and reminding him to show kindness to certain people. David assured Solomon that he was indeed worthy of being king. This was David’s last order of business. It’s one thing to say, “Be a man.” It’s another to say “I know you have what it takes to be a man. I believe in you.” Spend time with God today asking him who you can be an encouragement to over the next few days and how.
Two-a-days are designed for you to connect with God and those closest to you. Feel free to modify this plan to fit your and your family’s needs.
