Years earlier, God had rocked Abraham’s world by saying that He would make Abraham a great nation through a son he and his wife were much too old to have. Isaac was truly a gift from God. One can only imagine what was going through Abraham’s head when God told him to take his one and only son Isaac up onto a mountain and kill him to offer him as a sacrifice to God. When Isaac asked his father where the animal was to sacrifice, Abraham replied that “God will prove the lamb.” Abraham knew God had something up His sleeve. Even though he didn’t understand it, he knew God had a plan. At the last moment, an angel appeared and provided a way out and reaffirmed that Abraham truly did trust God. Has God ever asked you to do something that didn’t make sense? Have you ever experienced anything in your life that left you wondering why God allowed it to happen? Take a few minutes to share those things with God and ask Him to help you trust in His plan.
