Read Luke 6:27-31 During one of Jesus’ sermons, He talked about something that sounded just as radical to the people that were listening to him then as it does now. He told his followers to not only love those who are friends or family, but he told them to love their enemies. He goes on. He tells them to bless those who curse them and pray for the one who were persecuting them. He tells them to go above and beyond in serving others. At the end of the day, He told them to “do unto others as you would have them do to you.” Make no mistake, as Christians, Jesus had told us to serve and love those around us. This is especially true of those who are hard to love and difficult to want to serve. We are to go above and beyond in showing God’s love to EVERYONE in our lives. But, sometimes, people can become emotional vampires that suck the life out of you. There’s a balance between love and serving people versus enabling their bad decisions. We all have people in our life who are incredibly insecure, those who love drama, those who gossip, and financial freeloaders. We are called to love them, but we don’t have to let them step all over us. You can’t serve anyone if you’re not healthy first. First and foremost, our responsibility is to go above and beyond in sharing God’s love with people even if it stretches us at times. Reflect: They four types of emotional vampires are the incurably insecure, the drama queens, the blabbers, and the financial freeloaders. What type of emotional vampires do you deal with the most often? Which of these types of emotional vampires are you most likely to be? Pray:   // TWO-A-DAYS // GO A LITTLE FARTHER WITH YOUR DAILY DEVOTIONS // Go through these questions with your spouse, kids, or friend, or you can even journal about the answers to these questions:

  1. What was the best part of your day?
  2. What was the toughest part of your day?
  3. Where did you mess up today?
  4. Where did you see God today?
