John 14:5-6 Have you ever tried to prove you could do something on your own, but, all you do, is prove that you should have asked for help? I find myself doing this time and time again. From making a mess when trying to do a pretty involved paint job in our house to trying to do something on my own at work, I find that I often try to do things on my own when I should have asked someone else for help or at least guidance. In my stubbornness, I end up costing myself a lot of wasted time, energy, and, at times, heart ache. God created us to need other people. In America, we love the fact that we can be individuals and do our own thing, and we take pride in the fact that we can take care of ourselves. While all that’s great, it still doesn’t change the fact that God has put people around us to help us when we need it. We ignore the people God has provided while we go about our business trying to do everything on our own. That was never God’s design. The perfect world, in God’s eyes, would be for the church to be there whenever someone needed help. When one person is struggling, everyone else steps in to help out. Then, down the line, someone else will be struggling and that person and everyone else will step in to help them. God not only causes us to show others that God cares about them by caring for them, but He also wants us to learn to accept the love and care that He’s provided to us through other people. // TWO-A-DAYS // GO A LITTLE FARTHER WITH YOUR DAILY DEVOTIONS // Go through these questions with your spouse, kids, or friend, or you can even journal about the answers to these questions:

  1. What was the best part of your day?
  2. What was the toughest part of your day?
  3. Where did you mess up today?
  4. Where did you see God today?
Reflect: Do you sometimes have trouble admitting that you need help? Why or why not? Pray: If you struggle with allowing others to help you, spend some time asking God to help you change your attitude and allow others in in your prayer time today.
