Hebrews 4:12-16 I’ve spent many summer evenings of my life cutting grass for my grandpa. It was always nerve wracking, though, when he sat on the porch and watched me as I mowed. I always felt like he was judging how I was doing. I was afraid to make even the tiniest little mistake because I knew he was watching. Sometimes it is hard to read the Bible or hear about how God wants us to live because we know how far short we fall. We know of all the tiny (and not so tiny) mistakes we make every day. It’s nerve wracking because we know God is watching, and we feel like we are letting him down. My grandpa wasn’t there judging me, though. He just enjoyed sitting on his porch watching his grandson doing something for Him. This is how God is. Yes, God has set a standard, and we fall short of it. But, God sent His Son to die on the cross for our sins. God’s love and mercy toward us far outweighs any of our screw ups. The purpose of reading God’s Word is to learn more about the God we serve AND to find all those places where we don’t quite measure up. But, don’t get too discouraged when you screw up. God loves us just the way we are…He just loves us too much to allow us to stay there. What areas of your life do you think God would like to see you grow or change?]]>
