Read 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 There are times in my life when I’m super motivated. I work out everyday, spend time reading the Bible and reading books. I do the dishes and help make the bed. There are other times when I don’t want to do anything. I’d rather sit and watch Biggest Loser than work on losing weight myself, I’ll let the dishes pile up, and my Bible app hollers at me everyday for not following my reading plan. The worst part about it, though, is that I’m actually frustrated when I’m not motivated like I once way. In three very short verses in 1 Thessalonians, Paul gives us all God’s will for our lives. The first thing he tells us to do is rejoice always. He doesn’t say rejoice sometimes. We are to always rejoice. This is even in the tough times. Secondly, he tells us to pray continually. While it may not be feasible to be praying out loud while you’re waiting in line at walmart, God does desire for us to have a constant connection to Him through prayer. Finally, Paul tells us to give thanks in all circumstances. We are to be thankful for everything God has blessed us with. This is God’s will for our lives. There are times in our life where we feel connected to God. We’re ready to run through a brick wall to serve our Creator. There are other times where we don’t even want to get off the couch. We want to serve our own comfort. So many of us were once in a great place spiritually, but now we’re not. The good news is that we can return to the place we once were. If we want what we once had, we need to do what we once did. In our lives, we are either going to walk to serve our comfort or run to serve our God. I don’t know about you, but I want the legacy of my life to be living out God’s will for me. To run to serve Him and to be enthusiastic in living for Him. To rejoice in God, have a heart connected to Him in prayer, and being thankful for all the ways He has blessed me. Reflect Looking back, what are the differences between the times you did and didn’t live with enthusiastic faith? Pray In your prayer time today, organize your prayer time by rejoicing and praising God and thanking Him for all He has given you. Try to pray this way throughout the day. // TWO-A-DAYS // GO A LITTLE FARTHER WITH YOUR DAILY DEVOTIONS // Go through these questions with your spouse, kids, or friend, or you can even journal about the answers to these questions:
