Read Matthew 5:23-24
As I’ve gotten older, I’ve came to realize that most good things in life that are worth having don’t come easy. There’s often a lot of hard word or sacrifice that comes with the territory. Want to be healthy? You have to spend a lot of time exercising and eating foods you’d rather not eat. Want to do well at school? You have to study hard. Succeed at a job? You have to work hard. The list could go on and on. If you want to succeed, you often have to do some hard work.
The same goes for having peaceful relationships in our life. If you want to have healthy relationships, there’s going to be some conflict and confrontation you have to work through. Peacemakers embrace confrontation to make peace in their life. Sometimes the work is difficult to ensure peace is taking place. This often involves conflict or confrontation that most of us naturally avoid.
Being a true peacemaker is rarely peaceful. God values reconciliation above anything else in the world. When we refuse to do the hard work of making peace, we are hindering our relationship with Christ as well as with other people.
