Read Philippians 3:13-14
“You can’t teach an old dog new tricks.” We’ve all heard that phrase. It’s used to talk about people who are set in their ways. We think that they can’t learn anything any differently because that’s the way it has always been for that person. After something is ingrained into how we live our lives, we just accept that “that’s just the way I am.”
With this kind of thinking, it would become easy to be discouraged because it would appear our future is already set for us if we can’t change anything. However, God gives us a new future. We think of ourselves as who we are or what we’ve done. We think we are doomed to be who we’ve become or who our parents are.
God gives us a new future thought. Not only does He change our eternity from death to life, He has a new plan and purpose for our lives in the here and now. He changes the course and direction of our life.
What have you been stuck in a rut doing or not doing because that’s the way things have been? What is God’s future for you?
