2 Peter 1:5-8 When I played football in High School, I liked to talk a big game on the field. Being a large guy, it was fairly easy to intimidate other guys when we would trash talk. The only issue was, I have never really been in any kind of fight in my life. I had been in a scuffle or two but nothing major. I’m pretty sure that if anyone stood up to me, a good number of them could have taken me down. I talked a big game, but I didn’t have much to back it up. Unfortunately, there are times in my life where I use this same strategy with other, more important areas of my life. I will talk a big game. I will act like I have it all together, but I don’t back it up. Often, I will tell someone I’ll be there for them, but I’m not sure if I can come through for them. I try to act like I’m where I’m supposed to be in my relationship with God or that everything is just peachy in my life, but, many times, things aren’t quite what they seem. Maybe I’m the only one, but I have a feeling you struggle with that same thing to. God is big on us backing up our words with actions. Our faith is enough to make us right with God, but He wants our works to back up our faith, so that the world can see it. In your relationships, in your everyday life, back up your words and your beliefs with actions the best you can. We’ll all mess up at times, but we can trust that God will help us grow more and more in having our actions match up to our words. // TWO-A-DAYS // GO A LITTLE FARTHER WITH YOUR DAILY DEVOTIONS // Go through these questions with your spouse, kids, or friend, or you can even journal about the answers to these questions:
- What was the best part of your day?
- What was the toughest part of your day?
- Where did you mess up today?
- Where did you see God today?
