Daniel Week Five, Day One Read Daniel 10:1-5 A few months ago, I was helping someone with a computer problem they were having. I was able to show them what was going on with their computer, what the issue was, and how it could be fixed. It was a fairly minor problem, but the fix was a little bit confusing. A few weeks later, the person came back to me asking for help. The same issue had popped up, and they had tried to fix it themselves. They had spent hours working on it without being able to figure it out, so they came back to me asking for help. I didn’t mind showing them the issue again because it was an easy fix. My friend could have saved hours of their life had they connected with me when the issue happened again instead of trying to tackle it on their own with their limited computer savvy. This week, we’ve fast forwarded toward the end of Daniel’s life. We’ve seen Daniel be a part of some amazing things, and we’ve seen Daniel come through time after time by being relying on God and standing firm in his faith. However, here during the last years of Daniel’s life, Daniel was given a vision of a great war. This vision shook Daniel, and he mourned for three weeks. During those three weeks, Daniel turned toward God and fasted by choosing to abstain from choice foods like meat and wine as well as lotions for the twenty-one days. No matter what great triumphs we’ve experienced God do in our lives in the past, there’s always something looming in the future that will overwhelm us. When we’ve went through difficult moments before, it can become easy to believe that we can power through the next situation in the same way. We can be tempted to try to go at it on our own. But, like Daniel, we must remember to turn back toward God once again. No matter what you’re facing or how many times you’ve faced it, we must continue to rely on the One who has brought us through the tough roads of the past. You can’t do it on your own, and you don’t have to try. Whatever you’re up against, no matter how big it seems, remember that the God who created the world, who created and cares for you, and who has brought you through the tough times of the past, is still right there with you. REFLECT: What tough moments have you experienced in your life? What are some ways God has helped you through them? PRAY: Talk to God today about the tough moments you’ve faced in the past. Thank Him for bringing you through them, and ask Him to help you learn to lean on Him no matter what situation you face. // TWO-A-DAYS // GO A LITTLE FARTHER WITH YOUR DAILY DEVOTIONS // Go through these questions with your spouse, kids, or friend, or you can even journal about the answers to these questions:

  1. What was the best part of your day?
  2. What was the toughest part of your day?
  3. Where did you mess up today?
  4. Where did you see God today?
